As you may not be familiar with me, I will briefly introduce myself. My name is Carmel (Car-Mul) Noel, and I own The Beekeeper’s Café. I founded my business in 2022, after many years of working in the industry from the ground up to consultancy before embarking on my own venture, and the primary goal of my business is to use truly ethically and sustainably sourced products as vehicles for love.
In short, the name of my business is a metaphor for God’s stewardship over our free will, and stands as a reminder to my staff and me to do all things with love. My personal path to this includes ensuring the atmosphere in my business is welcoming to all- peaceful, engaging, alive- whatever it needs to be to serve best the souls who are present in any given moment.
That said, it is my great pleasure to have hosted Austin James Haines at my business, and I am eager to host him again in the future.
Something that truly stands out to me about Haines is how ardently he advocates for other small businesses and artists. He goes above and beyond to make sure more than one person is benefiting from each performance; a truly servant-hearted and community-minded man, he is.
Haines encompasses the heart of Beekeeper’s even when he’s not playing in my business; I have been made privy to stories of him offering up the mic to other musicians who he has connected with during set time that’s rightfully his, engaging with other small businesses in our town & trying to see how he can increase foot traffic for them, and even lightening the load of marketing by creating his own graphics and having flyers made up. I am singing his praises before he even gets to the microphone; he is just that solid.
While performing, Austin quickly engaged with those who entered the cafe and intermixed pieces that were both thought-provoking and meditative.
His poetry reflected the greats that line the Beekeepers' bookshelves and beautifully complemented the precise atmosphere I have worked so hard to curate. His songs were peaceful and sincere.
He has continued to support my business as a customer, and it always brings my staff and me joy to see him sitting, writing.
I look forward to hosting him again and would recommend him to anyone with a listening room-style setup where his work can really be appreciated in its full depth.
